Are you a mental health counselor who is passionate for unique outpatient care, pediatrics, and hippotherapy? Strides of Strength Therapeutic Services, Inc. is seeking a part-time mental health counselor to provide services in a unique outpatient setting that specializes in the use of hippotherapy as a treatment tool. 

Strides of Strength is a 501(c)(3) charitable and educational organization founded in 2018.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have completed Level 1 with American Hippotherapy Association, Inc. or be willing to complete within 90 days, or at first available local, in-person course. Please refer to the American Hippotherapy Association, Inc. website, for more details.
• Minimum of one year of post-licensure experience in providing mental health therapy, counseling, or related services.
• Have appropriate South Carolina licensure
• Valid state licensure or certification as a professional counselor (LPC/LMHC), marriage and family therapist (LMFT), or clinical social worker (LCSW).
• Proven experience in conducting counseling sessions and providing therapy to individuals or groups.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, or solution-focused brief therapy.
• Excellent communication and active listening skills.
• Empathy, compassion, and a nonjudgmental approach to counseling.
• Ability to establish rapport and build trust with clients.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards.
• Experience working with diverse populations and an understanding of cultural competence.
• Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) and other counseling software is preferred.
• Have pediatric experience

Responsibilities:

• Effectively manage and adapt your consultation schedule to ensure accessible and timely support for your patients, catering to the dynamics of your specific medical specialty.
• Maintain high ethical standards and ensure strict compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable to services in your medical specialty, including patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
• Conduct individual counseling sessions with clients to assess their needs, goals, and challenges.
• Develop personalized treatment plans based on clients' unique circumstances and desired outcomes.
• Help clients explore their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors to gain insight into their challenges and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
• Assist clients in setting achievable goals and developing action plans to address their concerns.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physical, occupational, and speech therapists, to coordinate comprehensive care for clients.
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting progress, treatment plans, and any relevant information.
• Stay updated on current research, therapy techniques, and best practices in the field of counseling.
• Provide support and guidance to clients in navigating challenges such as relationship issues, addiction, grief, stress, or mental health disorders.
• Complete documentation in a timely manner in accordance with facility and professional guidelines
• Direct and supervise support personnel and/or volunteers
• Educate patients and families as needed on the course of treatment, tools, and/or any items relevant to their continuing care
